Simon and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Al Mahara Restaurant in the Burj Al Arab.
Considering how expensive it is to eat there (the seabass for two was a whopping 950 dirhams/ 240 Euros) we would never have picked it for date night but our lovely colleagues Rachael, Niamh and Caitriona spoilt us by treating us to dinner at the 7 star hotel. The girls recently moved back to the UK + Ireland and given what a pleasure it was to work with them for the past several years it was us who should have been sending them to the Burj!
Obviously, it was so nice to get dolled up for a night at the worlds only 7 star hotel.
I once surprised some visitors with a trip to Junsui for the Asian afternoon tea followed by a stint in the Talise Spa which was divine and for my 23rd birthday Simon surprised me with dinner on the beach of Majlis Al Bahar Restaurant (still one of my favorite memories of our early days!) so I knew that we were in for a feast of the senses.
Al Mahara definitely knows how to pull out the stops on the seafood front and I was delighted to see Galway oysters on the menu. ‘Al Mahara’ itself means “Oyster Shell” in Arabic but I suppose you wouldn’t get better oysters than the ones found in Galway Bay, I know I’ve never tasted any as good as those from the Clarenbridge oyster bed!
The opulent surroundings and underwater theme (floor to ceiling aquarium) definitely stimulate all the senses and provide an interesting dining experience.
I highly recommend that all expectant Mums + Dads get out there and TREAT YO-SELVES before baby arrives!
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE GIRLS FOR AN AMAZING NIGHT.
